Parties can take place anywhere. You can have a house party, rent a hall or a room, take over a gallery or, for something a whole lot of fun, you can move the party outside and do a picnic party!
Picnics are fun for a party idea because they can accommodate as many or as few people as you'd like. There are the romantic picnic for two gatherings that can't really be classified as a party, but take that idea and blow it up and you get the idea.
All you need for a picnic party is a wide open space. A public park, a big backyard or a field somewhere all make great venues and the best part is the guests can bring their own fun. People can bring bikes, bubbles, balls, mitts, horseshoes and other amusements, and you can even put up a net or two and have volleyball games on the go.
If you are feeling very picnic-y you can make your party a pot luck affair, or you can even have it catered. Food machines like nacho and/or hot dog makers, rolling ice cream carts, even things like popcorn and cotton candy machines make great additions to your party and allows your guests to help themselves at dedicated food stations.
If you wanted to be more fancy, typical picnic fare like cheeses, crackers, fancy sandwiches and wine (though you will have to check on local bylaws if you want to take alcohol to a public park) will allow you to unwind, sit back and enjoy the natural views.
If there will be kids in attendance, you may want to hire a face painter or magician but for more fun, why not rent a bouncy castle or two? They come in all sorts of shapes and sizes and are fun for kids of all ages. If you have a big space, you have a great place to put some bouncy fun!
One of the best things about a picnic party is that you don't have to worry about seating for your guests. A picnic suggests a blanket spread on the ground, not a hand laid fancy table complete with centerpieces and matching cutlery. So dig out that picnic basket, the checkered tablecloth and the blankets and head out for fun at the picnic, whether you're sharing the fun with a few or many, it's sure to be a blast!
